<p style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">Mohsen Tavanaei¹ , Kosha Tavanaei²</p><p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Background and objective:</strong> knee osteoarthritis is a common problem in over 50 years old. There are different treatment methods to control osteoarthritis, namely drugs,physiotherapy,acupuncture,homeopathy and massage therapy. Homeopathy is a branch of alternative and complementary medicine which is used for treating many illness. Homeopathy remedies are prepared from planets, salts and elements. Rhustox is a planet based homeopathy drug.Rhustox, also known as poison ivy, is grown in Asia and America.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Methods: </strong>Acupuncture was carried out 10 patients suffering from10 osteoarthritis using important acupoints, namely GB.34, GB.33, ST.35, Heding(EX_LE_2) and other points for 10 sessions. More over Rhustox with potency 30, in a topical form was also applied to knee skin of knee, 2 to 3 times a day.</p><p><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Results: </strong>After applying the above mentioned treatment for 10 sessions within a few months, the result showed that combination of acupuncture and homeopathy remedy (Rhustox 30) was more efficient in reducing pain as well as enabling a higher degree of joint movement.&nbsp;</p><p><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Combination of acupuncture and homeopathy in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis is considerable.</p><p><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Key Words: </strong>Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Osteoarthritis, Rhustox</p><p><span style="white-space:pre"> </span></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>
