WFAS delegate spoke at 142nd WHO Executive Board meeting

<p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">22-27 January 2018, the 142nd session of the Executive Board of WHO was held in Geneva, Switzerland. A delegation of acupuncture professors including Aldo Liguori, Filomena Petti, Sergio Bangrazi and Diamantine Raccah attended this meeting on behalf of WFAS, an NGO in official relations with WHO.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Strategic priority matters of WHO such as draft 13th General Programme of Work 2019-2023, WHO reform, public health preparedness and response, polio transition planning, health environment and climate change, global access to medicines and vaccines as well as other technical and managerial matters were addressed.&nbsp;</p><p><br/></p><p style="text-align: center;">&nbsp;<img src="/Public/uploads/image/20180131/1517388656268391.jpg" title="1517388656268391.jpg" alt="WHO EB142 会议现场 small.jpg"/></p><p style="text-align: center;">142nd session of WHO Executive Board</p><p><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">One important task of this meeting was to conclude the consultation on major health issues to be included into the WHO&#39;s 13th General Programme of Work 2019-2023. On this item, WFAS submitted a written statement which was presented by Prof Diamantine Raccah during the consultation. In its statement, WFAS highlighted priorities of Traditional Medicine, such as the ICD-11, the benchmarks and guidelines for training and clinical practice.</p><p><br/></p><p style="text-align: center;">&nbsp;<img src="/Public/uploads/image/20180131/1517388668736246.jpg" title="1517388668736246.jpg" alt="WFAS Speaker at WHO EB142 small.jpg"/></p><p style="text-align: center;">WFAS delegate speaking at WHO EB</p><p><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The WFAS request has been embraced by WHO and included in item 43 of the final Draft of the 13th General Programme of Work 2019-2023, drawn up at the close of the consultation.</p><p><br/></p><p style="text-align: center;">&nbsp;<img src="/Public/uploads/image/20180131/1517388727448505.png" title="1517388727448505.png" alt="WFAS statement in WHO EB 142.png"/></p><p style="text-align: center;">Statement by WFAS</p><p><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">WFAS established official relations with WHO in 2010 and has ever since enjoyed the privilege of sending observers to World Health Assembly, WHO Executive Board meetings and meetings of WHO regional committees. WFAS is also involved in developing and implementing WHO&#39;s Traditional Medicine Strategy, benchmarks and guidance for clinical practice, education and training of acupuncture.</p><p><br/></p>
